the end of december,

here is the promised video. it only took me a month. in my defence, imovie is hell to work with. also, apologies for terrible, terrible quality. my internet upload speed is shocking.

and so this is the final post for the year, and it's been a big and small year. i've been busy with relevant things for once but i'll save all the good news for the first post of 2012.

see you on the other side.

moral fairground

hi everyone,

the showcase went very well, and it was not only a fantastic showcase but a fantastic experience.
the below images are mostly movie stills which is why the quality is a bit funny but;

and you can find more (and better quality) photos of the entire event on this flickr.

and i'm in the process of editing a video of the night which i will post as soon as it's done !
and for the record, Charlotte being arefoot was intentional, she didn't forget her shoes :))

an uhpdayte.

well, i have now finished my course and in a few weeks, i'm legit qualified. that was how full on the last semester was, i haven't had a chance to post anything since august.

i want to post better photos of the work i've been doing, but most of my garments have been taken in for assessment or for the end of year showcase.
but here are the photos of the last minute shoot i did. the photo's were taken by the marvellous charlotte santall :))

i'm showcasing my future project along with sarah hickey at the ethical fashion show hosted by moral fairground at fed sqaure, so if you've got a spare fifteen dollahz and not doing anything on the 2nd of December, get down.

in the next few days, i will post more photos and other tidbits that i've been doing over the semester.

| (au)GUST |

hello my petals, welcome to a new month,

here is the rough label i drew up for the dress i made for my sister's graduation. i'll post photos of the actual dress once i get a chance to take some.

in other news? drafting, re-drafting, re-re-drafting ideas for an opening collection. i want to keep it tidy and succinct with whatever is to become of k-SUL, so i have been thinking of starting up with just some shirts and pants. in male and female varieties. so currently mucking around with the colour palettes trying to see what mixes and matches the best etc.
these sketches are crap and incomplete, so don't hold them against me:

so as you can see, the colour palette is all over the place. mainly trying to decided between functional colours and pop colours.

but i'm jumping the gun i suppose, i need to find fabric samples for these bad boys first. hopefully will have a toile of the female pants to show by next week and will get started on the pattern for the shirt sometime over the next week too.

enjoy the sunshine today.
with love, k.

here is the second toile for my dress, (i'll post pictures of the range once i've done the illustrations).
i've got work early early tomorrow, so it's bedtime for me.
i'll make a good post soon, with more pictures and words and all.
 with love, k.

i'm back at school and we're already getting deep into the design process. or rather we took it in one elephant sized pill and we're already onto pattern making.

i'll post some picture of the latest venture soon.

my mother bought me a book today: how to set-up and run a fashion label.
it's full of useful information and encased in a pretty cover.
so with any luck i can get k-sul further underway before i graduate.

all my love,
k.

weather report.

i remember someone asked me the other day what i thought the next big style would be after the whole indie/hipster thing becomes extinct, or 'passe' rather. i think you can see elements of a new direction already blossoming. people are getting bored again. i think it will be some kind of austere mash-up of 90's punk goth with the old minimalist chic stirred in for good measure. i think the colour palette is going to darken and mature. more greys and moss greens and eggplants and maroons. paler skin, darker lips, monotonous hair.
and after that? personally i can see the whole 60's space age thing coming back, except more tailored, more wearable, less pvc.
whatever ends up taking the streets by storm i'm excited.
i'm tired of skinny jeans and plaid shirts.

with love,
k.
